The important difference from the evening: Delta does not belong here. The deep-sleep range makes you heavy and groggy — at 3 pm in the office that is the opposite of what you need. Alpha is the daytime range.

What is supported — and what is not

For stress and tension the evidence base is comparatively good, at least relative to other frequency topics.

Best studied are the anxiety-reducing effects of binaural beats. The meta-analysis by Garcia-Argibay and colleagues (2019, Psychological Research) found measurable effects on anxiety scores across several studies, including situations such as waiting before surgery — that is, under genuine acute stress. Effect sizes are moderate but consistent.

Not supported is everything beyond that: that a particular Hertz value lowers cortisol, prevents burnout or treats an anxiety disorder. Frequencies are an everyday relaxation tool, not a therapy. Anyone suffering from persistent tension, insomnia, feelings of panic or physical symptoms should have that assessed medically or psychotherapeutically — no sound in the world replaces that.
